My First Road Biking experience...35 miles!!!

I made it! Here is my bike (the one that wasn't used)

My friends Brye and her fiance Dennis are avid bicyclists. They got me on board when Brye convinced me to buy a road bike at the pawn shop. After the purchase, it sat there and Cooper convinced me to do a ride one day. I meandered around the neighborhood. Little did I know that my next ride would entail 35 miles on the road! Early saturday morning the three of us planned to bike and we had some "bad luck" with two of my tubes popping like ballons. Brye was kind enough to lend me her bike and Dennis and I were off. I had warned them that I had not exercised at all that week since I was at the hospital with Jolie. It was an awesome ride and as soon as the pain started up my leg, Dennis said that we only had 2 miles left! I had so much fun because it was a tough one and I couldn't believe that I made it! The best part of the ride was when we returned Brye had done her share of shopping at Lowe's and had the truck full of plants! She had the biggest grin on her face as she rolled up. She is such a bright star in this world!

Gianna cheers up her sissy!

Jolie's smiles while she was in the hospital came when Gianna was close to her. I look forward to watching them grow up together. You can see their bond forming....like the one my sis and I have. It's one that cannot be described! Thank heaven for sisters! My bro is pretty cool too.....so are their bros...Inshal and Rinju.

She's home now!

Jolie is happy at home today.  I spoke with her and she talked my ear off, a  sure sign of healing.  Everyone's prayers worked!  Today is my last day of summer freedom.  Tomorrow I go back for professional development.

She's a Pooper....Jolie Marie

I spoke with Jolie today and she sounds fantastic.  She said that her tubes have been removed, that she pooped, and that now she is eating solid foods.  She still has her PICC Ivy in and there is no word  on when she will be released to go home.  Thanks for your prayers.

Farts! Farts! and more farts!

Okay...only two really.  (Farts) Jolie is improving by the minute!  Thanks so much for praying.  She had two good farts today, they have removed the tube from her nose and throat.  She will be put on clear liquids tonight.  I'll keep you posted.  I never thought I'd pray so hard for someone to fart!  :)

Jolie Update August 7, 2008

No poop yet still. I was able to sleep with Jolie in her hospital bed and hold her little hand through the night. Not a sealy posturpedic comfy bed for sure! Thanks for your prayers. Keep them coming! She is a lot stronger today. She has many visitors including Franz's sisters Josieanne and Lisa. Jolie is moving, happier, and walking around now, but the bowels are still sleeping. The doctors have decided that tomorrow they will put a PICC line in. This is a form of Ivy that is placed in her upper arm in the radiology department. This will provide her with proteins, fats, sugar, and calories to help her system get going. Poor thing has not had food for 6 days! I will be flying back tomorrow, but I'll still keep you updated.

Update

We are still waiting for Jolie to have some progress with her bowels. When we arrived this morning, she was having a hard time because they wanted to undo her bandage where the operation was. Jolie said she only wanted mom and dad in the room and she wanted the nurse to leave also. She's a fiesty little thing but strong indeed......please keep praying. I'll keep you posted.

Our poor little Jolie.

Jolie has been sick since Friday and was admitted to the hospital. She had a blockage in her intestines due to scar tissue from her cancer surgery five years ago. They operated on her yesterday and she is slowly recovering. It hurts to see her in so much pain. We are praying for a bowel movement and for her speedy recovery. Please pray for her.

She is surrounded by her webkinz which keeps her attention off of the pain.

Brunch w/ G-Daddy

We met up with Grandaddy at mass then went out to Brunch with him, our cousin Carrie and her daughter Claire. Claire was sporting her new sassy sunglasses. G-daddy showed off his new car. Okay, it really wasn't but it was a colorful one none the less!

Stylin' G-daddy!

Dinner at Basil

We dined with friends at Basil one of the best Thai restaurants in Charleston. This is one of the many dishes we tried because we ate family style. Yummy! I love Thai! Everyone had a great time!

Beach Fun with the Hyatt's

Sherry Hyatt one of my dearest friends in Charleston (she used to teach with me at Memminger) and I love the summers because of the beach. Some of my favorite memories of Charleston summers includes Sherry and her kids. Erdun (her husband) was with us and did his share of fishing at Kiawah. We brought home a huge fish that I later cooked into a delicious curry. It was also Sherry's birthday and it turned out to be a great day!

Our stop in Atlanta

Our flight from Houston was delayed causing us to stay overnight in Atlanta, GA. This is a picture of Cooper's ancient suitcase that he proudly carried on our trip. I couldn't help but make fun of him because it looked like one of my dad's old suitcases from India. We called our cousin Cincy and her fiance Carlos right away in hopes of seeing them before they get married in September. They met up with us at the Marriott and we were delighted to see them. They enjoyed some of the Indian food that my stepmom had packed for us. Although it was past 11 p.m. that we arrived, they still came to see us! We stayed up late again and talked. We can't wait to share in their wedding day the first week of September!

Renee moves to Houston

One of my college roomates Renee Schreck Lara moved to Houston a few months ago and I had a chance to meet up with her husband Rodrigo and her. We spent some quality time together and I felt as if I could have talked with them all night! They are a cute couple and I have always felt a spiritual connection with Renee. We've prayed together in the past and I consider her one of my catholic soul sistas. :) I can tell that Rodrigo takes such good care of her and I'm glad that they found each other. Cooper and I went to their wedding almost two years ago.

Meghan...my cousin's newborn

My cousin Jeny and husband Dennis had their first baby, a girl, Meghan. I had the opportunity to meet their sweet baby girl while I was in Houston visiting. Here she is....she has long fingers and toes like her mom. :)

Please pray for a FART....seriously....

I'm at the Children's Hospital in Washington D.C. with my sister and family. Jolie was admitted on Friday for a clog in her intestine. She had surgery yesterday where they found out that scar tissue was obstructing her small intestine. This occured due to her surgery for cancer over 5 years ago. Now we are just waiting for her bowels to start working again. We are literally praying for a "FART". It's so sad to see her in so much pain. We have all been praying hard and thanks to all family and friends who have been praying with us. I will upload some pics soon but the hospital computer isn't new enough to take the memory card.
